Camera 500D – Good Beginner Dslr

Have I bought the EOS 500D as entry-level DSLR to search the web, benchmarking, and long conversations with (amateur) photographers.
Compared to the Sony Alpha 500, the Olympus E 620 and the Nikon D5000 (all of which I had in my hand and have tried), I opted for the Camera 500D due to the big screens, in an attempt to use and easily understandable menu navigation and the more feature-rich In this price range.
