Many camcorders perform best on certain types of batteries while others perform best with bigger batteries. It is important to ensure that only the correct battery is used for your camcorder. Remember that a wrong battery can possibly spoil your camcorder forever.
Sometimes, if proper care is not taken, then the battery might leak and start excreting certain chemicals that can come into contact with the various mechanical parts of the camcorders, and rust them or spoil them. A few times, it has also been seen that if a battery is inside a camcorder for a long period of time, it can also leak and damage the camcorder. There are two ways to avoid this mishap:
1.Only buy batteries that are manufactured by well known and recognized manufacturers
2.Take the batteries out from the camcorder when not in use.
Though original batteries come at a higher price compared to generic ones, these original batteries are actually covered within a guarantee period and have less chances of malfunctioning or be replaced if they do. It is also advisable to carry a pair of spare batteries with you whenever you are travelling with your camcorder so you do not run out of juice at the wrong time and miss that once in a lifetime moment!
